ABOUT KHANG
Viengkham Nanthanvongdouangsy is a Lao textile artist and founder of KHANG, a cultural house devoted to refined Lao weaving traditions and contemporary textile expression. Her work is rooted in lived heritage — shaped by a childhood spent among looms, silk threads, and ancestral knowledge passed quietly from hand to hand.
Raised by a master weaver after the loss of her father during the American Secret War in Laos, Viengkham learned early that true luxury lies in time, discipline, and meaning. For her, weaving is an act of remembrance and care, where every motif carries intention and every textile reflects a lineage.
Through KHANG, she creates limited, thoughtfully crafted works that preserve intangible cultural knowledge while speaking to a modern, global sensibility. Sacred Lao motifs — particularly the Naga, a symbol of protection, continuity, and harmony — are reinterpreted with restraint and respect, allowing tradition to evolve without losing its soul.
Viengkham’s textiles are not produced for trend or season. They are created for those who value authenticity, quiet beauty, and the depth of human touch. Each piece invites its owner into a slower rhythm — one where heritage is not only seen, but felt, and where ownership becomes a form of cultural guardianship.
